Water Discus submersible hotel
Continuing the nautical theme from yesterday’s article, Polish company Deep Ocean Technology have unveiled plans for an underwater hotel, capable of submerging 10 meters below the sea surface in Dubai.
The hotel will comprise of two discs, connected via five columns and a vertical shaft for access to either floor, the above water and the below water one. The latter allowing guests to admire the surrounding marine life during their stay. The lower disc will house 21 hotel rooms with spectacular underwater views, a refreshments bar and a diving centre, where guests can learn to get up close and personal with their neighbours.
The diving centre can be accessed by an underwater airlock, that will enable divers direct entry into the surrounding ocean. It will also house a decompression chamber for training purposes. Being a company with experience building underwater vehicles and equipment for seabed exploration, the hotel will also house facilities for guests to try their hands at piloting an underwater vehicle.
Safety and security is obviously paramount to the firm, with provisions for the underwater disc to surface in the event of any danger. Monitoring systems are integrated with international earthquake and weather warning systems, while the company’s numerous remotely operated underwater vehicles provide further advanced warning systems.
It will be ideally situated in Dubai, close to a vibrant coral reef and a restaurant, spa, and upper level swimming pool ensure guests will be treated to luxurious surroundings during their stay. Deep Ocean promise that due to its modular construction, the hotel can be easily expanded into a larger resort complex or moved entirely. They also claim that the complex could be constructed anywhere in the world with each design tailor-made to suit local conditions, such as the shape of the coastal line and depth of water around the coral reef.
