Casio A168WG-9EF – Retro Chic
Casio is an electronics company that is know for its legendary product range that includes calculators, wristwatches and keyboards. It is famous for helping to develop innovative technologies and selling it to the masses. Examples include the first completely electric compact calculator, the first consumer digital camera with an LCD screen and some of the earlier quartz crystal watches. Given that Casio’s corporate mantra is “creativity and contribution” perhaps this is to be expected.
It is generally considered to be the second largest watch manufacturer in the world (after The Swatch Group). This is not a surprise given the success of various product lines that include G-Shock, which specialises in tough watches capable of resisting heavy knocks and vibrations. First released in 1984, the popularity of the range has enabled Casio to release collaborative models with fashion labels such as Stüssy and A Bathing Ape. The most recognised Casio watch is the F-91W which was first introduced in 1991 but continues to sell millions annually.
The A168WG-9EF is a classic from the ‘Retro Old Skool’ range of Casio watches that takes you straight back to the 1980s. With its gold coloured appearance and larger than average face, it instantly draws attention and works well as an accessory because of how it contrasts with whatever the person is wearing (unless that person has gold clothes…). A unisex product, the A168WG-9EF features a stop watch, alarm clock and illuminating light.
