The Squier by Fender Stratocaster USB guitar was released late last year and allows for easy access to computer devices such as the Apple iPad, meaning that the user can take advantage of GarageBand application for easy recording and production.

As well as the digital connection (via a micro U.S.B. connector) it features everything you would expect from a regular guitar including:

– Pickup select switch
– Pickup volume control
– Pickup tone control
– Headphone volume control
– 1/4-inch (6.3mm) passive guitar output
– 1/8-inch (3.5mm) stereo headphone jack
– Pickup configuration: H/S/S
– Basswood body, rosewood fretboard, and maple neck

It offers bi-directional audio streaming and a high-quality headphone amplifier ensuring one can monitor the signal directly from the guitar. The regular output means that the guitar can be used as a normal analog instrument. Its price tag of two-hundred U.S. dollars makes it well placed in the entry-level market. The convenient plug and play connection option will only help increase its appeal to beginners.

Made in Indonesia, the build quality is surprisingly high with a light body and decent bridge.
